Sinan Antoon’s third novel, Ya Maryam (Ave Maria) (Beirut/ Baghdad: Dar al-Jamal, 2012), was shortlisted for the 2013 International Prize for Arabic Fiction, otherwise known as the “Arabic Booker.” The novel, Antoon’s third, explores the conflicting views of two generations of an Iraqi Christian family.
The six books on the shortlist were selected by a panel of five judges. The winner will be announced on 23 April 2013.
